This full day tour collaboration between Art Connections and Asheville Farm to Table Tours offers participants a day of exploration at the source! Our line up of farms and artists give you an up close experience visiting places that will delight your curiosity and engage you with the beauty of this region. Our day will include 3 venues featuring 2 artists and 2 farms + a wonderful lunch!

We’ll start our tour with a visit to an Alpaca farm where we’ll see and meet the animals, then visit their charming store.  This farm, nestled in picturesque rolling hills, grows their own hay, has gardens and is ‘all organic’ in their approach.

Following the fiber farm we’ll travel a few miles to a lovely pottery studio where we’ll visit with the artist and see a demonstration in the studio.  This ceramic artist works in porcelain clay and she’ll have a wide variety of functional finished pieces as well as some in process for us to enjoy.

A delicious lunch is next on the agenda from a local independent (and award winning) café & bakery.

After our lunch, participants will proceed on the tour to a daylily flower farm.  At this location we’ll see hundreds of daylilies at their peak and learn about the propagation of these flowers.

At this final venue, our visit will also include a local painting artist sharing a plein air painting demonstration at the flower farm!

Each stop in our tour allows for opportunities to see the source of beautiful and professionally made products.  We will learn about the processes used and you’ll have the option of purchasing from a range of price points if you wish. (we do have a rainy day plan – so don’t fret about weather)

Includes: lunch and transportation, two farms and two artists.

 Time of tour: 9:30am – 3:00pm

Dates available: June 24, July 8 and July 22.

Cost: $125/ea

Welcome to Wood Tours

DEllsworth.Mason Pot.jpeg

Artists in the medium of wood, specifically woodturning, and Collectors of this art form are coming to North Carolina this July for the American Association of Woodturners (AAW) annual conference.  The conference is in Raleigh on July 11-14.

Wood art advocates in Asheville are planning events to entice attendees to drive to the mountains for part of their trip!

Come join an Art Tour and meet some of the talented makers near Art Connections’ home base of north Asheville.

North Asheville and nearby Weaverville are loaded with artists living in the area so we’ll be able to visit a variety of curated artist studios in different mediums. Tours will visit three studios specializing in: book arts, glass, paintings, clay, jewelry/metals, mixed media and paper sculpture. Each tour will have a different lineup determined by the artists’ availability.  Other dates available upon request.

What to expect:

  • Visits to three private artists studios, either home or ‘by-appointment only’ locations

  • Studios chosen will be a selection of various mediums; all fine craft or paintings and professional quality. Art will be for sale in studios, purchases welcome but not required for the tour

  • Transportation: is included (lunch not included, but h2o and snack provided)

A total of 2 participants is needed for this event to occur; maximum is 5 participants. If your group is bigger, we can accommodate you with a little more advanced notice!

Custom tours are also available for your group!

In this busy age we all have demands on our time - both visitors and artists have full schedules...  That’s part of the 'why' Art Connections can also customize art tours individually... based on your interests, your time frame, and which artists are available for a visit.

We also know that everyone who considers a tour has different thoughts on what they'd enjoy seeing.  Maximize your visit by planning with Sherry. Having worked with so many of the artists in Western NC, she can accommodate participant requests and find options that are a good fit for each group.

Just use our Contact page and send in an inquiry, we’ll go from there and work out the details.
