A rare blend of humor, thoughtfulness, versatility and harmony characterize the work of Chris Perryman, an Asheville woodworker Chris who has been featured in area galleries and is one of the top ‘go-to’ artists for interior designers in the area. While he works with wood—both new and reclaimed—he’s been known to resource other materials when the project calls for it, and he does so seamlessly – with skill and perfection.
Chris is a fourth generation woodworker from the Piedmont of NC. He first came to this area to study at UNC-Asheville where he competed his Bachelors in Fine Art. Chris then traveled and spent time in Italy teaching English as a Second Language. He lived and worked in the US Virgin Islands, and in New Orleans, LA before returning to Asheville and setting up his woodworking studio.
For the past decade Chris has been busy creating custom furniture, architectural installations and interiors commissions in the Western NC region. He is willing to repair family heirloom pieces, as well as create new furnishings that will be future heirlooms. Chris is also excellent at total room remodels. Additionally, he offers a line of functional kitchenware, including cutting boards, salt boxes, and wooden bowls.
Come with me to meet Chris, learn what’s happening in his studio at the moment, and find a few treasures for your own home use!
